#11. Pyre.
[ No one could have pinpointed the exact moment it happened, even if they had been looking straight at the former bar as it forgot its structure and became something grander, stretched, polished and reinforced. Some might claim that the building had always looked that way, a doorless monolith, the bastard child of a cathedral and a fort. Lux.]

[If they looked closely enough (and few would bring themselves to do so) they might have made out a figure, leaning back against one of the doors that weren't. They
might have made her out, though the shape was hazy through the unseasonal heat that radiated a few feet from the building and then bled back into October chill.

The figure would not have looked back. She waited for someone other, someone who would not be squinting to add sharpness to their sight. When Elaine Belloc arrived, her eyes, like much else about her, would be blind.]

[ She still had very much to learn about her powers, but she can feel it surging in her blood, in her very being, as she approached Lux. She was not at all surprised to see that it had transformed into something akin to a small fortress. She knew that the both of them would never even think of submitting to her wishes.

She also knew that neither of them would be going without some considerable show of power. So as she approached, she waved her hand, and immediately set up a warded perimeter around the "fort", to prevent any damage from filtering out, as well as to prevent any stray civilians from wandering in. ]

Impressive. I think I have not seen this iteration before.

Will he not come out to greet his niece?

[Any shift in Mazikeen's casual stance was almost imperceptible, even as she came into the presence. Rather, even as the presence came unto her. One hand rested lightly on the hilt of her blade, the least of all her weapons now.]

He is not accepting visitors. If you have come to preach, you may give your sermon here.

If I remember correctly, he hates to be preached at. Action over words suited very nicely with him.

[ Elaine continued to walk up towards Lux until she stopped just a few meters in from of Mazikeen, making sure to put enough space between. Her hands were at her sides, her white-eyed gaze focused at the warrior at the gate. ]

That is why I myself came for him. And for you.

He has decided not to entertain your whim. I had more of an interest in seeing how accurate this mimicry is.

[At last she straightened, facing down God with a grey eyed gaze. The Lilim were as nothing against the name, but the Morningstar? Were strength the only consideration, it would not be enough. Yet there was still strategy, and intent. Bolstered by advantages in height and old acquaintance, Mazikeen did not look like one meeting her maker.]

An old fool with the facade of a child. You read the ancient scripts well, Elaine Belloc, but you are slipping, Yahweh always operated by envoy. Whatever the will wrought, those hands were ever spotless.

And that led to his downfall. The first Yahweh left too much blood on his instruments. And his instruments questioned him too much for it.

That will change.

[ The air around her started to hum with quiet energy. Both her hands now faintly glowed white ]

And did they not say that if you want something done, you have to do it yourself?

... will you not come with me peacefully, Mazikeen?

[There was something she could almost respect in those words, were the circumstance different, and for a moment Mazikeen's expression could be taken for proud. For a moment. Soon enough the flesh is as unyielding as the mask, and her blade is drawn and held before her.]

I have fought alongside you, Elaine Belloc, when neither of us were as we are now. Peace would be a waste of what may prove a worthy test.

Come, bring your divine fire and let us see what will can shape it to.

[ A worthy test? At the back of her mind Elaine remembered that it was not that long ago that the both of them had come to their current status; she as Creator, and her as the Lightbringer. Even in the time that she had spent back in her realm, she had not had the chance to fully use her powers.

Indeed, perhaps today was a good day for a "worthy test"

She brought her hand before her face and a white flame materialized on her palm ]

Very well. The time for words has passed.

[ She extends that same hand and white fire shoots towards where Mazikeen stands ]

[Stood. The fire arcs into empty air, cleansing only the walls of Lucifer's cathedral. Reducing paintwork to divine dust. Mazikeen, moved before the strike was taken, makes a study of the burn.

It is true, then, God will not risk damaging even this creation too far. Elaine is holding back.

Mazikeen counters with a different tactic. She blazes. Eyes, blade, countenance bright as the surface of suns, and giving out no lesser heat. God cannot be burned by it's own flame, but the blade she wields is of a people forsaken. The lightbringer will not burn, can the creator bleed? A swing of steel to find out.]

[ She keeps her gaze steady as Mazikeen's aspect comes to her in a blaze. It was the first time Elaine has seen her like this, but she had no time to admire it.

She would like for this to be over with as quickly as possible. She would not hurt Mazikeen gravely, if she could. But if she continued to resist like this...

The sword swung against thin air, though, as Elaine shot to the side and sent another blast of white fire towards Mazikeen's way. ]

[For her part, Mazikeen knows there is only so long that mere avoidance will serve her, and while fire is now her element, she is not so compatible with the divine.

New scars mark her face before she admits it is time to end it. She began this with an ending in mind, though there may have been easier ways to reach her chosen conclusion than the one she takes now.

Too tempting to see if she
can. Either way, the retaliation will mark Elaine's last move. For her own, she chooses to drive white hot metal fused with steeled determination down toward the girl's chest.

...She had once promised Briadach that she would run God through on his behalf.]

[ It had become some sort of a weird dance between them, circling each other, exchanging blows that would render an ordinary being quite dead from the get-go.

But Elaine grew tired of it.

As Mazikeen drove the sword through her chest, Elaine grasped the hands that held it and pushed the sword in further through her to get as close to Mazikeen as she could. Close enough that their faces almost touched.]

End of the line. My word, my will, is law.

[ With that, she sent a powerful mental blast that knocked Mazikeen to the ground, unconscious, for the time being. Drawing the sword from her chest, with the wound already healing itself, she let it fall to the ground with a clatter as she knelt beside the Lightbringer's prostrate form. She checked to see that she was truly unconscious, then bound her hands and feet, making sure to seal them with wards to deter her from using her power.

Elaine disabled the ward that she set up around Lux, and put it up around her intended path towards the church. She would send for some of the inquisitors to help her with the transport.

An afterthought, and she picked up the sword that pierced her just a moment ago. She would give this to Ky for him to hold on to until the judgment.

After that, she would come for her uncle.]
